House of Light: Traversing the Depths of Post-Punk with « 21st Century Prayer »
Based between London and Melbourne, House of Light croons an old lost tune amidst a cinematic shoegazy mesh of synth and guitars. In an interview with Andy Rourke of the Smiths, they described themselves as “evoking the romanticism of the 80s and the darker turn of the 90s.”
House of Light comes from the same places that inspired post-punk bands like the Cure, Joy Division, Killing Joke, and the Church. They have been booked with the likes of Lydia Lunch, Pete Doherty, and the Drones on their regular tours around the globe.
Their next album, « 21st Century Prayer, » sees HoL traversing from dark and danceable to dreamy terrain and epic laments with implosive poetry evoking innocence lost in the face of the modern tech tide. Tracks like « House of Love » will showcase the band’s talent and depth.
